John Webster b. 1932 served in the Royal Navy for 40 years and painted as much as the demands of the service and his family allowed. On retirement painting became his second career. He is a figurative painter in the post-impressionist mode, principally in oils but also pastels occasionally. His subjects are marine and landscape executed “en plein air” and in the studio. He was elected to the Royal Society of Marine Artists in 1998.
His work can be seen at the Mall Galleries in the RSMA annual exhibition and also with the New English Art Club. A one-man show of his paintings is held at the Tryon Gallery, London about every two or three years. He also exhibits at the Alresford Gallery, the Wykeham Gallery, Stockbridge and Falle Fine Art, Jersey.
John Webster’s work is held in many collections including H.M The Queen, HRH The Prince of Wales, The Corporation of Trinity House and Britannia Royal Naval College.
